As you know, our Collective Negotiations Agreement (CNA) will expire at the end of June. Two weeks ago, the union notified the administration that we are ready to begin the bargaining process. Initially, we agreed to meet every Monday and Thursday from 1-3 PM. Before our first meeting last Monday, we received a notice that the administrative team is not ready to bargain. We were a bit surprised by this because all we planned to do at the first meeting was go over ground rules and sign off on the articles that we agree did not need changing. We have heard nothing from their team since last Monday.
In the meantime, our team has been meeting and deciding on the articles that we propose to change. We are starting to craft language on those articles, so we will be ready to bargain whenever the administration tells us they are good to go.
We have been meeting with different groups to gain information for the changes we are going to propose.
We all agree that our number 1 priority is going to be salary which is usually reserved for last although we have been discussing the possibility of doing salary first. Unfortunately, the administration would have to agree to this in order for it to happen.
We plan to live stream the bargaining sessions using Zoom, so once we get some dates pinned down, we will send out the links and dates.
We will be using this website, Facebook. and Twitter to keep faculty informed of what is happening with bargaining.
