The union bargaining team met with the BOT team on June 6 to go over the sections of the contract that we want to bring forward for discussion. We also went over the ground rules and set dates for future sessions.
Union leadership was disappointed when Susan Bronstein announced that the BOT team would not be able to meet until after the June 22 BOT meeting. We set July 11 as the first bargaining session followed by another meeting on July 14. All meetings will be held in I-125 from 1-3 PM. A Zoom link will be sent out as well if you can't make the meetings in person.
As you are probably aware, Dr. DeLuca is no longer the Provost and has been removed from the bargaining team. This was a huge disappointment for the team as we have been working closely with her for the past three years preparing for these negotiations. The new interim Provost will be starting August 1, so we are not sure who is going to be making decisions for the BOT between now and then.
During our July 14 meeting, we will be addressing Article 8. This is very important for faculty as it includes office hours, scheduling, online, etc. In our ground rules, we agreed to provide the other side our proposed language changes 48 hours before the public meeting. We are hoping that this will speed up the process a bit. As soon as we get their proposals for the 14th meeting, we will post them on this site so faculty can see what is being proposed. At the same time, we will post the union's proposals for that article.
We need faculty support and input during this process. Please check into our FB page and this website for the latest bargaining news.
